Product Care Disclaimer
Planter Care | Cleaning manual
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your planters, please adhere to the following care cleaning instructions:
Cleaning: Clean your planters using only water and a soft brush.
Avoid Chemicals: Do not use any chemicals or cleaning agents as they can damage the natural materials.
No Pressure Washers: Do not use pressure washers for cleaning, as the high pressure can harm the handmade structure and the natural products used in the planters, the planters are sealed to avoid UV and moss, by pressure washing them the protection will be removed. A simple hose with mild pressure will do the job.
Our planters are crafted with care from natural materials, and these guidelines will help ensure they remain in excellent condition.
Plant Care | Frost
The clay coating of the planters makes the planters frost-resistant as this coating absorbs very little moisture. However, it’s crucial to ensure that no ice forms around the plant's root ball to avoid pressure on the inner walls of the planter. Proper water drainage is essential, and this can be achieved as follows:
Drainage Holes
We drill different holes in bottom of the planter, as drainage helps reduce the risk of water freezing inside the planter during cold weather. Without drainage, freezing water can expand and potentially damage both the planter and the plant.
Drainage holes come standard for the bigger planters (Antwerp | Brussels | Coppa | Lucca | Durham | Ferrara | Quebec | Montreal | Perugia | Oman)
Rubber Feet
Raising the planter slightly off the ground with rubber feet allows excess water to escape more easily through the drainage holes, preventing water from pooling at the bottom and reducing the risk of waterlogging or root rot.
Planting
Fill the planter partially filled with Argex pellets, with a root-proof membrane placed on top to separate the soil from the pellets. This prevents soil from mixing with the Argex layer, ensuring smooth water drainage
Frost Care | Extra attention for specific models
It is important to note that straight planters and models where the belly of the planter is larger than the opening require extra attention (e.g Coppa | Naomi | Tulum). In these planters, insulating material such as polystyrene foam can be placed between the planter wall and the soil. This insulation acts as a buffer to reduce lateral pressure on the inner walls, giving the soil more room to shift.
This extra step is unnecessary for conical models (e.g., Antwerp, Quebec, Durham), as the soil can move upwards along the pot’s sides when ice forms.
